William ALSTON (1831?-1894). William was born in 1831 (approx.) in Goosnagh, Lancashire, England. In 1841 he was resident in Sidney Street, In 1851 he was resident in Fulwood Toll Gate, Preston, In 1851 he was a Toll Collector. He married Ann ASHCROFT on 14 October 1851 in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Preston by registrar. ³ In 1861 he was resident in 143 Gordon Street, Preston, In 1861 he was a Labourer. In 1871 he was resident in 82 Bold Street, Preston, In 1881 he was an Engine Driver (Cotton Mill). In 1881 he was resident in 100 Ellen Street, Preston, In 1891 he was resident in 82 Bold Street, In 1893 he was an Engine Tender. He died on 27 January 1894 in 82 Bold Street. ⁴ He was buried in February 1894 in Preston Cemetery.
